Halloween Party

Happy Halloween! Emily's music class had a Halloween party this morning. I thought I would post her getting ready. We decided to have her be a ballerina for Halloween this year. My sister, Erin, made her this beautiful tutu for her birthday last year and we wanted to put it to good use. Erin also made the flower clip in her hair. Thanks Erin!

Emily was so excited to get dressed up and started twirling around in circles when she put on her tutu. She looked so beautiful and had a great time with her friends!

Pumpkin Carving for FHE

We decided to carve our pumpkin for FHE. Emily was so excited about making a jack-o'-lantern. We had been reading books from the library about how pumpkins grow and some showed them once they were carved. She kept saying, "jack-o'-whantern" over and over again.

Chad let Emily take off the top of the pumpkin after he had cut it out so that she could see the seeds. She was very excited and then, as you can see, got a little grossed out by the slimy pulp. Ha! It was pretty funny to watch her expression.

After Chad cleaned out the pumpkin,
she flashed one of her signature grins.

When we asked Emily what kind of face she wanted on her jack-o'-lantern, she pointed to the face on one of the
decorations in the kitchen.

Emily couldn't wait to make her jack-o'-lantern light up.
She wanted to put the candle in it herself.

She made all sorts of squeals of delight when she saw the face light up. She was very proud of her jack-o'-lantern. She even said,
"Happy How-o-ween"!

We had a terrific time!

Spiders and Bats

Emily made some spiders to decorate our kitchen. I was a little nervous to do an activity that involved paint with her, but she did wonderfully. She was so excited to make our spiders that she followed every instruction! We had such a fun time making them together. (By the way, in case you are wondering...this is Emily's new "natural smile". She does it every time she takes a picture! HA!)

Later we glued on the wiggly eyes and hung them up in the kitchen with string attached. The minute she woke up from her nap she was saying, "SPIDERS!". The funny thing is that when Chad got home from work he mistakenly called them bats. From that point on every time she pointed to them she would yell, "BATS!". HA!

Emily's First Pony Tail

Emily's hair has grown very long. Because it is curly, it appears shorter than it really is. We decided to try her hair in a pony tail. It is so cute! She wears it like this most of the time now.

HY-VEE

Emily loves pumpkins! In fact, every time she spots one she shouts, "PUMPKINS!". We went to our local grocery store and she saw some sitting outside. We had to take a picture!

She also loves to ride in the bus or car carts that they have.
I like them too because it keeps her in the cart while I shop!

Peanuts Anyone?

We have found that if you do something with Emily once, you are going to be doing it a million times! One day Chad put Emily on our bed and gave her some peanuts.

Emily usually wakes up with a list of "demands" and begins rattling them off the minute she gets up. Once morning she requested that she sit on the bed. After Chad put her on the bed she shouted, "PEANUTS!" She now thinks that EVERY time she sits on our bed that she should be eating peanuts, even if it's for breakfast! What a silly girl!

Schaake's Pumpkin Patch...Second Attempt

I had high hopes for our second attempt at the pumpkin patch. I was determined to get some good "fall" pictures of Emily. This time I brought along my secret weapon...Chad! Emily adores her daddy and loves spending time with him.

We had fun looking for pumpkins. Emily just enjoyed running around with Daddy! Once again, she was not interested in a photo shoot, but was in better spirits than our previous trip. Overall it was a fun family outing. We almost made it through without a melt down, but when Chad left to go to work, Emily was not very happy. That girl sure loves her daddy!
