Emily's First Primary Talk

Emily gave her first talk in Primary on May 30, 2010. She is just shy of being 3 1/2 years old. She has wanted to give a talk in Primary ever since she became a Sunbeam in January. Our Primary presidency was so great to ease her into it by asking her to first say a prayer and then a scripture. She did such a great job with those that they went ahead and let her give a talk.

We practiced her talk for a long time, role playing how things would go. She was very specific about doing things in the right order. We had to put a chair that she would stand on (the podium), she would sit on the floor on a pillow (the "talk" chair) and I would pretend to be the presidency member and say, "And now Emily will give the talk...". She even involved Annie and had her pretend to give the scripture and prayer before her talk. It was really fun to see her so excited about it.

I told her that I didn't expect her to memorize it, like she did the scripture, and that I would be there to help her. We practiced it so much that she nearly had the whole thing memorized and so did I! :-) She really has an amazing memory for a 3 year old.

On the day of her talk, she did a fantastic job. She didn't do as much from memory as she did when we practiced, but I think that was because I was standing next to her. She did a wonderful job on her first Primary talk. We are so proud of her! Way to go Emily!!! We love you.
