Happy Halloween!

My mom sent Emily a monkey costume for Halloween. She was the cutest monkey ever! I took Emily to the Trunk-or-Treat at the church on Tuesday night. Chad was working and couldn't come with us. Emily was ready for bed before we even left for the Trunk-or-Treat. It made for kind of a late night. She was a little cranky and there were a few tears. It was a nice night, but not as cool as we had hoped. Her costume was a little warm, but she looked darling! When we started trick-or-treating, she just stared at everyone and everything. It was already dark out and a little hard to see. She was a little timid at first, not sure what to make of it all, but did better once we had been there for a while. All was well except for at one trunk someone had on a mask and it made her cry. Oops!

We decided to give trick-or-treating another try. Chad and I took Emily downtown to trick-or-treat on Wednesday night. Many of the businesses have someone sitting outside to hand out candy to the kids. It was still daylight and Emily was in a great mood! She still took a little while to warm up to the fact that there were odd looking people all around us. But before long she was flashing her smile at everyone. She really enjoyed herself. It was cute to see her so excited. It was also nice to have Chad there to help out. It was pretty cool weather and Emily was all snuggled up in her warm costume. It was perfect. Success! Happy Halloween!

The Pumpkin Patch

Chad took some time off from work on Monday morning. We took Emily to the pumpkin patch to pick out some pumpkins. She was so excited! We took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch, picked out a couple of pumpkins and took lots of pictures (of course). She even got to see a dog. She LOVES dogs! She was looking at the dog run by while we were taking the bottom picture. We had a wonderful time at the pumpkin patch. Better late than never.

Cell Phones

Emily has a cell phone addiction! She has had it for some time, though now she is big enough and strong enough to fight you for it. Ha! She is fascinated by the lights, sounds and pictures. Somehow, I think that she must even enjoy the taste. It always seems to go straight in her mouth.

I thought this was a cute picture because you can see that she is starting to look like a toddler. Our baby is growing up so fast!

Smile! :-)

Emily loves brushing her teeth. Ever since she was little, she would get a huge grin on her face any time Chad or I began brushing our teeth. It mesmerizes her. She was elated when she finally got her very own toothbrush (and some teeth). She gets so excited every day when she gets to brush her teeth. A huge smile spreads across her face and we happily brush away! Lately, she's decided that she can and should be able to do this on her own. Oh,...the satisfaction. :-)

After realizing that the name of our blog was a misnomer, Amy told me it was about time that I wrote about the rest of the family. Emily is so much more exciting (and photogenic) than the rest of us. Amy and I have been enjoying the nice fall weather here in Kansas. I have been very busy at school and work. The second year of the clinical psychology PhD is the most difficult because I still have a heavy course load, many new clinic clients for both therapy and assessment, work on the pediatric weight management intervention that I get paid for, and my masters thesis project at its busiest. Luckily I enjoy all of these activities, however, finishing school one of these days will be nice too. Emily continues to provide endless excitement at our house. Her favorite activity these days is to sneak off to her room to read (i.e. eat or otherwise destroy) her board books. It is a full-time job just keeping the girl out of trouble. Luckily she has a great mother who keeps her entertained every day. The post always has to include a few photos right? (Yes, that is her lunch on her face.)
